  • 118TSI and I average 7L/100kms .. 45-60 minutes of city/freeway driving to work and back.
Never had it at much less that 7L/100kms but last time I did look after a weekend of fun driving it was 8.3L/100kms as an average.. Seems high when its only a 118....

    • Damn thats amazing economy. Im currently looking for a diesel (hopefully a Polo or Golf no older than 3-4 years) for the Mrs to replace the Corolla she currently drives. We live in Newcastle but she works in Sydney and she generally does 600-800km a week. I think the high km's she has to travel suggest a 2nd hand diesel would definetly be worth while.

I honestly suggest getting a 2 year old 103TDI DSG Comfortline (sports pack isn't necessary, just adds stiffer suspension etc. She'll probably only want the base. Usually pick one up around $23-26k.

        • Hi all

Just a quick one, noticed my fuel warning light has come on for the first time on my new mk6 GTI, apparently there is 50km's left and the needle has hit the upper point of the red zone... generally how far could you theoretically milk it? In my old car, i could probably drive another 50km's once the needle had gone past the very last notch, obviously not the best thing to do on a regular basis But i know that even though it might say its empty they tend to leave a bit of leeway of a few litres to be safe.

            • The fuel warning comes on with about 7-8L remaining. When it stops telling you that you have kilometres remaining (you get a couple of underscores instead), there is about 3-4L.

              • I've driven it til it had 0 km showing and had to drive it a few km to a petrol station, I then managed to Put 53l in. So theoretically it had 2 litres left so at least 20 more km

Fair enough. I'm sure there is a level of difference from car-to-car.

I didn't mention DTE because I've had LOW FUEL come on anywhere between 70km & 120km depending on what avg consumption#1 was reading at the time.

huh? OP said 14km. Who knows how the previous 26km was done.
