I've got the corporate discount, but half of the discount is in the reduction of the Dealer delivery from 2995 to 995, and i was never going to pay that much DD in the first place. So the Corp discount only works out to ~4k for me on a $59k spec'd GTi.

So the real Corp discount is only worth ~7%??
Is this what others have found, or are the 10% + discounts in the spreadsheets based on a starting price that includes $2-3k of DD??
Glen I believe this is correct.

I settled on $57k for my GTI which is essentially full RRP less $1650 corporate and $2000 off the DD. Now I do not qualify for Corporate (my company isn't in their list and I am not part of the ACS as most who used corporate are). So he basically said that he would give me a discount equivalent to the corporate discount but no other discount in its place. In the end it worked out to be almost 7%. I wish I was entitled to the corporate discount as I would have more room to move. I'd have negotiated the price and then have corporate applied thereafter as it seems many others have done.

Couldn't you have just gone through a car broker as they would be able to get the Corporate Discount, and then get them to negotiate the price down further?

I am a retail buyer without any ties to the corporate discount. I essentially got the value of a corporate discount off the RRP with no further discount.

I believe some others have got a small discount from RRP + the corporate discount (ie a slightly better deal than I).

I am not aware of going through a broker entitles you to a corporate discount?

Based on the list of people buying from the thread...

"Expect a 9-12% discount without corporate discount, 10-13% with."

Corporate discount only starts for companies with 6 or more cars in their fleet, so I just targeted 10% discount regardless of corporate discount or not. Didn't negotiate either, just called up... I want to buy this car with these options, if you can do the deal for $42k including on road costs I'II come down today and place an offer. He called back within 10 mins and said it's a deal.

He knew if he tried to bargain, I'd just call the next dealer. Just don't ask them if what price they can do, otherwise you enter into a negotiation and have to fight over where/what/why the costs are. If you do the sums and know what the vehicles RRP is, stamp duty and rego cost are, then you know what a bargain is. Corporate discount just seems like another name they use, which at the end of the day is irrelevant to us. Bottom line is getting a good price

Brokers would get fleet rates and may or may not be able to get the corporate labelled discount but from some of the posts here they can work some pretty awesome deals. But hey I was happy with my price and just did as you explained went in though knowing what it was worth so when in was offered a price I knew it was a good one.

Hi Guys - im looking at getting a Golf 90tsi with a few options and wanted to know what price you think is a good one to ask for. (im in qld btw)

                Base price $25990
                Metallic Pt $700
                Comfort Pk $2200
                Sunroof $1900
                MDI $270
                ------------------
                $31060 + s/duty (3% in qld= $932)/dealer delivery($995)/onroads($680)

                all up $33667

A broker got me a price of $33100 (which is crap) so i was gonna go direct to the dealer... i was thinking $30000-$31000? what do you think? or am i in fairy land?

$995 delivery seems cheap if you aren't a corporate customer, assumed because the discount is lower than 10%? Perhaps an extra $1000 discount in there for that you may have missed?

I do have my own company and we have 5 cars between in our fleet. So i should be entitled to the corporate discount (i hope) hahah

                      Golf 90TSI DSG in NSW?

                      Hi there,

Just found this marvellous thread and wondering if you could help.
I'm wanting to get a Golf 90TSI Trendline DSG with
                      - Metallic Paint
                      - MDI + Cable
                      - Comfort Package
                      - Tint
Been given price of $33,500 (drive away) with corporate discount.

What price do you think I can get? Based on the spreadsheet, it looks like it should be around $32,250 (olaf line 32)
I'm Planning to buy before end of year, so would appreciate your thoughts!

Bit confused, as I never did look at the 118TSI - what's the difference between that and 90TSI? Looks like based on (kingwang, line 14) for that price, I can get the 118TSI.. doesn't seem to make sense!

Thanks in advance for your comments!

Have you consider the 118Tsi? If your budget is $30k, then a

118TSi, Sunroof, Paint, MDi would be around $33k. Only $3000 different, you will get more pickup at lower RPM, more grin and better resale value. And if you have little more to spend, get the sports pack RRP$2000. Overall an extra $5000, maybe you can nudge little bit off that.

Check out Corey's post on 90Tsi vs 118Tsi

If the total pack for the 90Tsi is $32250, then an 118Tsi (QLD) + MDI + Cable + aftermarket tint would be around $34000, only $1750 different ...I would go for the 118Tsi.

Is there a list of companies, so I know if im eligable for the corporate discount? or is this too difficult to disclose due to privacy issues..

The dealer (well at least mine did) will have a database to check from.

Just give any dealer a call.
