The cheapest diesel hatch is (now) the Golf Bluemotion, with quite a bit of funky high-efficiency / low emissions technology, and is of a higher general specification than the base petrol model, so you're not comparing otherwise-identical cars.

The old 77TDI Trendline hatch model has been dropped. And even this was of a higher spec than the base petrol Golf.

    • Thanks Adam. I have noticed some 103TDI DSG's have a new style gear shift lever without a 'T' at the top, just a vertical lever.

Could someone please advise when that was introduced, and is it a sports pack thing?

      Thanks.

      • For anyone in WA, I'd definitely recommend Bunbury Volkswagen if looking for a new car. Got a great price on a Golf 90TSI DSG for under $24k drive away (including corporate discount)

Have a look at the following post, and the threads on the model year changes:

I think that change was MY11, from memory.

          • What would be a fair price now on an R?

I've been quoted 55k on a demo MY12 (1000km on the clock) Rising Blue, RNS510.
or 58K on a brand new MY13 (ETA december) Black R, with RNS510

I don't particularly want the RNS510 as I'll be putting a Zenec in anway. And I would like leather (sales guy just keeps carrying on about aftermarket leather).

I love Rising Blue, but Black would be best as it's a company vehicle and will get signage, etc.

              • Is someone able to confirm when VW will stop taking factory orders for the mk6 GTI? Or has it already stopped?

                Thanks!

I was told last week that the factory isn't taking orders, but that could have been a white lie to get rid of current stock.

FYI, for anyone negotiating on a new GTI, I just picked up a deep black MY13 GTI DSG with reverse camera, parking sensors, Detroits, roof, tint and mats for $39,400 on VW Corporate.

Sounds like a good deal given all the extra kit.

Helluva lot of car for the money!

                    • Given price of $41,500 for Carbon Steel DSG
                      $44,398 for White with leather
$44,086 for carbon steel with sat nav.

Not as sharp as what others are getting... this is having also bought a Tiguan. What do others think of these prices?

Do you qualify for Corporate Plus teflon? Best I could get from a Perth dealer without Corporate Plus was ~$41.5K (5-door Deep Black DSG with reverse camera, parking sensors, Detroits, roof, tint and mats) so I reckon the extra $2K came off because of Corporate Plus entitlement. Either way, go back and negotiate a little harder esp since you're a repeat customer!

Yeah I didn't think it was the greatest deal considering I'm a repeat customer. Planning a test drive tomorrow so I'll see if there is any more room to move.

                            • I'm in the market for a demo/used Golf R.
As they aren't taking any more orders for the MK6 models, would prices be cheaper or more expensive as the MK7 isn't out yet?
