How to track the car you have ordered?

mentioned that Patrick's/Toll who do the car moving are running behind a bit and it might be 4-6 weeks.

i was told this today aswell...

for me, my car was in melbourne on 21/12/09, and is at patricks now. i was told 17days from then but they are running another 5 days late.

i hate this waiting game....

Well I went into Barloworld today and ended up chatting with Christian (helpful) - mentioned that Patrick's/Toll who do the car moving are running behind a bit and it might be 4-6 weeks. I don't know if he meant from the day it arrived (Jan 11) or currently.

I've also asked if i can inspect/drive the vehicle before registration, said it should be no issue. Also asked about stickers not going onto back windows permanently (i'm doing the signwriting there), no issue.

Apparently they supply slimline plates upon delivery...although i'm keener having the personalised plates in standard when I get them - hopefully they won't hang down too far below the car line.

SIDE NOTE:
Checked the VIN on the shipping/transit website nominated on page 1, and it says:

DELIVERED FROM MELBOURNE 14-01-2010 10:55:00

What technically does it mean ? It landed/arrived on 11-1-10, so is delivered the customs/clearance step ?

Got a very welcome call from Barloworld Delivery this morning, to tell me that my car has arrived - Whoo Hoo!
I'm going in tomorrow morning (Thursday) around 10am to have a look over it. Very happy considering Patricks are running behind schedule - hope you guys get a call today too!!!

Looks like my detective work has paid off. From the info the dealer gave me and looking at the schedules, my car needed to be on Queen Sapphire leaving Bremerhaven on sunday.

The past 2 days ive been looking for it and finally today it popped up as being on that very ship and due in Melbourne on the 24th Feb.

Just been down to look over my new baby before they prepare it for delivery... took a while to find it - new Golf's everywhere!!!

Finally tracked her down.... delivery booked for Wednesday afternoon!

Spoke to my dealer today who confirmed week 6 build for me... looks like end of April is most likely.

The wait is bloody painful.

You're more patient than me. Which is why I waived up to $5000 in savings to get my car immediately instead of waiting 6 months. Was it a fair trade? I'm going with - YES!

Well its not like I dont have a car already... so I can wait. And $5k goes a long way to new wheels, suspension and tyres!

.. Also not to mention the fact that I don't think there are any cars with the spec I want. I don't know how you managed to get yours so quickly with it all decked out.

Yeah we have 3 cars now, but I was sick of driving around a Mirage and a Ranger. I got it quickly because it was from the initial VWA-ordered batch. One of the few fully-kitted models brought down. Although the dealer didn't budge much on the price (why would he?), he let me drive it away a day before the official release date.

VW Oz told me today that my car didnt arrive with an owners manual, so it couldnt be complianced.

I'm now looking at delivery in 1st week of Feb, initial estimate was 30th Nov 2009.............................................. ...........

They better throw in a second Golf with it....

I've now been informed about the first week of Febuary, with customer delivery about 3 days later (to fit the parking sensors) - and I've been given the green light to go inspect the car at the yard before I get it registered

EDIT: Now due on Friday 29th, I have to call the dealership on Wednesday to book it in I am still going to go down and have a look at it in the storage yard to make sure there's no major bumps or bruises...

I have been given the exact same week information by my dealer in Melbourne regarding my order (week 6/Feb 1)
