Sure we do. To prevent inconsiderate prats at car parks from walking into your mirrors and damaging them. I see it happen all the damn time.Originally posted by elisiX View PostI guess if you have auto park assist then you dont need it

I tested the reversing mirror - and that functionality works fine. The folding mirror icon in the manual is missing from the mirror adjust knob - it mustn't be offered for the Aus market for some stupid reason. We have tight car parks and garages - why leave it out? I have the mirror heating function, but I can't really test how well that works in a Perth summer. The knob is really difficult to turn to the heating function - it almost feels like I'm using too much force to move it, and then the knob selection line points vertically instead of at 10 o'clock, where the icon is located.GTI MKVI Candy White | 5 door | DSG | ACC | 18" Detroits | Leather | Electric Seat | Sunroof | RNS510 | Dynaudio | Park Assist | RVC | MDI

Try parking in Korea/Japan, then you'll know about narrow parking spaces. When i was there on holidays i noticed every car has folding mirrors but can't really say we need them here. Although notice pajero's have the feature and some other cars.Originally posted by MurphyTheElf View PostWe have tight car parks and garages - why leave it out?

Whilst its nice to have all the bells and whistles I think its a pretty useless feature in Australia. We dont have the narrow lanes they have in europe.
I dont think ive ever felt the need to fold in a mirror on a car other than when its been layed up off the road for 6 months +

Question on automatic external mirror folding
Hi guys, couldn't find a search item on this.
I was starting to read some of the manual when i noticed that there is a version of the car which has Automatic folding of the external mirrors. Now my car does not have the function but i was never informed about it being a function.
Its not a big deal but do the Australian versions have this function and do any of you with the GTI have it?
As i said i don't care for it really, just curious.

No.Originally posted by kennyc View PostIts not a big deal but do the Australian versions have this function and do any of you with the GTI have it?
The manual covers basically all english speaking countries. So there are features and functions discussed in the manual which are not applicable to Australia.

While I appreciate Aussie cars do not do this can we program or get the dealer to program if we want it to happen with a GTI. I thought the later versions of the GTI Mk5 did this. I know mine being a 2005 model did not, but i thought later models did. Or am I getting that mixed up with the mirrors dipping when reversing and if so do Mark 6 GTIs do that. I haven't got mine yet so I am yet to look at the manual.Mark 7.5 2018 White Golf R with Driver Assist & Dynaudio packages.
