The passenger side mirror can be set to dip when put into reverse. But it does not come with the electric folding function as there isn't the electric motors built in. So it cannot simply be programmed to fold. Some overseas models have them built in though.

Thanks heaps for that information. Is the left mirror dipping set as standard or do we need to ask our dealer to program before we pick up?

In other threads it's covered that the passenger side 'dipping' does not work (except if you have reversing sensors?)
        see here:

I actually think it's pretty poor how the manual just blindly lists all these features that you really have no way of knowing if they work or not.

Just today I tried to get the passenger side mirror dipping feature to work with no success, and then came across the above posts.

        Cheers,
        Keith

Yeah, it could state "overseas models only" or something.
I actually think the manual is pretty crap for the RCD 510 as well. And i can't find anything on the glovebox cooling feature in the manual.

But yeah there is a feature missing on the external mirror bit for the folding mirrors, that is what made me think it's not in the Aussi model or need to be "added"

Your car will come with it because you have Park Assist optioned.

You don't need a dealer or VAG-COM to turn this feature on, but you may need to enable it by following the steps in the manual. It does involve a bit of configuration IIRC.

You just need to enable the mirror down function in the MFD, then put it into reverse and select the knob to the passenger side mirror and adjust it so you can see the kerb. Once you finished adjusting the setting would've been saved. Make sure you leave the knob on the passenger side mirror all the time or else it won't activate. When you drive off it will stay dipped until you have exceeded like 10km/h or so for it to return to the normal position. Check the manual if you don't understand

                Mk6 questions

I read the manual, it mentions about electronically closing the mirrors.. But that feature is not on the knob. Is that because we have Australian version?

The other question is opening the passenger door. It is done by
pressing twice on the remote... But is there a way to set it to automatically open both sides?

Mirrors - correct - not on the aust. spec. The manual overs all specs for all countries so there will be a few things in there that you either haven't optioned or are not on the aust. models.

Doors - Yes, you can change it to open all the doors with one click. This can be done through the MFD (perhaps in the convinience section?.. at work atm so can't confirm for you but i know it's in there).

Correct, this feature isn't fitted for the Australian market.

There is. Your manual describes the process of setting the locking mechanism on page 30 (ref Door Opening -> Manual).

Buddy, PLEASE at least use the search function before posting new threads. I just did a quick search using "folding mirrors" and found this thread and the answer to your first question. Thanks

Saw folding side mirrors at carpark

So the other day, I was going back to the car park and saw a GolfVI 118TSI

                          Big deal yeah?

But I noticed that the car's side mirrors were folded in - like Lexus and Peugeot's.

I and we, know that VW don't have folding side mirrors as a function, but I was wondering, perhaps this person had some modification or something?

The owner of the car was a P-plater, so those side-mirrors are a must.

Then I thought, maybe the person wanted to protect his.her investments and folded the mirrors in manually - but that would be so much effort everytime he parked, not to mention un-folding them when driving off.

So I came to the semi-conclusion that he/she must have some mod to the on-board computer that allows folding of the side mirrors.

Anyone have a clue? Would be a FANTASTIC feature to add on.

Obviously the mirrors slant during if you have Park Assist as a feature, so maybe folding the mirrors are an extension of it?!??

dont under estimate how anal some owners are. Im betting they were folded manually
would cost a fortune to retrofit the option u would think

Not for Australian delivered cars with Park Assist.

If I parked in a narrow spot I used to fold the mirrors of the 182 in as well. But it was so small that I was able to open the passenger window and lean over and pull it closed from the drivers seat, and just close the drivers one before I walked off.
