Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Passenger seat doesnt slide forwards or backwards.

My passenger seat doesnt move. After careful inspection, it looks like each rail has two pins that need to be raised. One of the pins on the right rail doesnt come up which is causing the seat to be stuck. I cant remove the seat as its stuck somewhat far back covering the back screws. Any ideas how to lift the pin up or access the back screws?
    Thanks.

Hasnt it got a handle across the front of the seat to pull up on looks like a piece of steel rod bent to shape

Most likely the handle has come off.

I can see the pin going up on one side (left rail). On the right rail, only one pin moves up. What i can tell from pictures is that the pin that holds the chair in place is made up of two small pins on each side ( so 4 in total). but my case is that only one pin comes up on one side. the other rail is fine.

HAS IT GOT A HANDLE Take some pics hard to know what you mean as the pins hold the seat in place but there is a mechanism to move them in and out

I had the handle break of on my Scirocco. It sounds like this may have happened on your car.

Its hard to see but the left rail has no pins. Right one has 1/2 pins. The other pic describes how the pins and the hole work. 2 Pins on each rail, the right rail has only one pin going up and down. And yes the handle does work hence why the left rail pins go up completely.
