Thanks for that! I came across the info on the distance multipler ages ago on Vortex, but never tried it out because the general consensus at the time on that forum seemed to be that it made very little difference.
I'll have to give it a go now.
I changed mine a few weeks back, from impulse numer 3 to 7. 7 gives the highest adjustment to the impulse number.
Variance from GPS is now down from 5kph at 60 to about 2 or 3 kph. Haven't had it on the cruise at 100 yet to be sure on the effect.
The info displayed in VCDS help gives me confidence that it would be possible for a programmer to change the setting. Only needs another 2 or 3% to get it spot on. This wouldn't be a VCDS thing though, would be an ST3 or bluefin type change.
Wouldn't hold much hope getting such a thing from the ST3 any time soon though.
07 Golf GTI 3 door, Tornado red, 6 speed Manual Red may be the devils colour, but this car is pure heaven
I just finished my trial period with an APR chip and I can honestly say that I couldn't care less what the 0-100 time was. The car is a million times more fun to drive and as far as I can tell the best value mod on any car that I can think of. My comfy hatchback with heated leather seats, sunroof, automatic wipers/headlights and ample boot space is now a pocket rocket!
My friend who drives an R34 GTR Vspec II laughed when I offered him the keys to drive for the day. "I'm so over turbo power, it won't impress me"
2 hours later he lamented how the trial ended during his drive because he was having so much fun and the car felt like it died. He couldn't stop going on about the insane torque.
My point is that with this incredibly cheap mod, the car seems to offer everything to everyone...I couldn't stop smiling when I drove it. I know that people love to be anoraks and bore their friends with 0-100 times but the point of the chip/flash is to put an even bigger smile on GTI drivers faces...mission accomplished!
btw, if you're wondering why I offered a whole chunk of my trial driving period to my friend - I was sold in the first 30secs of driving

The error that I have on mine at the moment is a constant 2km/h across the range. The only way to fix this is to pull the speedo apart, remove the needle and set it back 2km/h. I'm happy with the 2km/h error as it gives a little leeway and allows for change in tyres etc.

A chipped Polo will actually quite easy do a 14.4s quarter mile. (slips in the Polo section)
This in effect equates to about 6.3s 0-100km. It is quite difficult to launch as excessive wheelspin is a problem but a 2s improvement is possible for a chipped only Polo GTI.
A few more mods ($3K max) will see that time drop to under 14s and under 6s 0-100. Again slips have been posted in the Polo section.
Not wanting to start a war with the Golf brigade, but a chipped Polo GTI is a good match for a chipped Golf GTI in a straight line but due to less rubber and a softer suspension no match around a race track.
So if you drive a stock Golf GTI do not mess with a chipped Polo, if you drive a chipped one, go fo it but you may be surprised as to how close it will stick to you ....

They aren't that far behind on the track either. Less weight helps heaps.
