    I'm 29,

Wife and I bought a GTI because it's a fantastic car. Class leading performance and handling, lauded the world over. I'm always going to look back and remember the joy of owning and driving this car. I felt like I'd be missing out on something very special if I didn't ever own one.

Name a car that costs less than 45k brand new that has received this much unanimous praise.

    My midlife crisis....pffft.

i dunno, i'm 6"1' and comfortably fit in the polo. no issues whatsoever. you may have been in a chopped pog

I don't think a GTI is a midlife crisis car - that role is reserved for SS Commodes & XR6 Foulcans.

GTI is what you buy when you don't need the room of a big Aussie sedan, want a bit of luxury plus some mumbo and also after some build quality.

I mean, you could probably buy a top of the range Aurion and achieve all that but what "enthusiast" wants an Aurion (may as well find Dr Kevorkian straight away)?
        Totally Agreed

I even lowered the seat and the cabin was still cramped, again 7.7cm does make alot of difference in such a small car.

Think a non bathurst XU-1 used to sell for 4200 or the like back then .. now .. GTRs are worth about 35000 if in good nick and XU-1s over 100,000

Then of course you could buy a Falcon GTHO Phase III .. I went for a ride in an XW GTHO once and huge fan, but always loved the XU-1. Sniff .. now I'm geting all old timer nostalgic!

I told my mid-life crisis to harden the f..k up.....and forget about the GTI and get an .:R32

I love it when a crisis responds in my favour.

good call. there is a real estate agent around here on the GC, he's mid to late 40's and cruises around in his SLK350 wearing frameless purple lens sunnies and rocking a funky waxed-up hair cut.....now thats mid-life crisis if i ever did see it! not gay either, his wife is the partner in the company.

Haha, it might be very grey, but my hair is thicker than when I was a teeny-bopper.

I sometimes have a "comb crisis", cause it's hard to get the comb through it
