Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Yeah the timber/hammer trick is fine. Did it on my car.

You got any of that Wurth copper grease to stop squeak when it goes back on?

            • The Golf had it's annual service at the Volksfactory. He now has covered 31500 kms and cost $255.

I supply the oil, which I bought yesterday.

I refueled and washed mine for the first time since I got it. Super exciting. Nearly $70 for 45L of 98 RON! But I'll live. Looks all shinny again, and the rims are a lot easier to clean the brake dust off than on the Mk1!

                  • Fitted an USB charging port.
Used one of those cigarette lighter plug in charger adaptor. Plugged an extension lead into it and mounted the female end in a blank switch cover.
At the adaptor end I opened the adaptor , removed the side prongs and the end contact and ran 2 wires to the cable under the original cig liter socket.

Washed car finally and why did VW make sure that the MKV's hold 20 litres of water in the side mirrors after you wash the car!!

In other news I ran my PB quarter mile on sunday of 13.68

Brilliant result, would have been even quicker without all that water in the mirrors lol
