  • Replaced the ignition cylinder.

    • Installed my Thinkware U1000 2ch dashcam. Routing the video cable through the rear hatch grommet was one of the worst experiences of my life!

      • Replaced a door lock, cost me $26.22 and an hour of my time.
VCDS scan showed a fault, never noticed any issues with it otherwise, except playing with it after seeing the fault code and then only once.
It freaks me out a bit pulling the outer skin off the door.

            • Had my Ground Control camber plates installed to replace my knocking stock mounts. They're the street version and ride like stock with no NVH. Can finally dial in front camber too-went with -2.5 degrees all around.

                • are forums dying down or is it just me? also i haven't helped to the cause!

for those looking at how to get a A-pillar boost POD. This ended up nicely, tried to create a mold and wrap it with fabric but its a pain, this is easy and looks good.

I just redid my driver's door for the 3rd time. I also followed the Humble Mechanic's video for it, found it very helpful.

I don't know the video but I just printed this out and followed it: HOW TO: Replace Faulty Door Lock Module - page 1 - How to Guides / Troubleshooting - MK5 Golf GTI

Not much to it once you've bought all the weird-ass tools needed. A second person is useful but not necessary. Trickiest part is unclippping the module from the white housing shown. My eBay modules are working so far.

Note: on both the doors I have done the screws didn't match the diagram. I just made sure they went back in as they came out.
