Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • definitely. I also found the blue display of the old one quite bright during night trips.
I've discovered the RCD510 doesn't like big SD cards. It works with 16gb card but it takes a long time to scan it. It seems, the small the card, the faster it is.

I had new wheels (GTC GT-CX 18" x8.5 matte anthracite) put on my car. I decided to go for wider tyres with lower profile (Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2 235/40R1 to hopefully get better traction and better handling. I'm not too fussed about better acceleration but hopefully will get less wheel spin. The wheels are 10kg each corner so reasonably light for 18" wheels. Here are some pics:

H and R springs installed on the jetta.
Wow. Feels so much more planted but the ride feels pretty much stock. Nice drop too.

                        • Removed white paint from the door protector strip after some knob opened his door into mine.
Second time the protector strip has saved the day after I've had a good hit from someone who can't operate a door.

As requested. Not a great photo but that's all I got for now!

We drove about 300km yesterday and the ride is still pretty damn good. However, bad roads are somewhat unpleasant but bearable (IMO)

Votex Side skirts are on the way this week. Should finish the look off.

                                Very clean looking.

Washed ziggy today as I thought it looked like a perfect day until about 3PM when the dark clouds started to form.
