Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    Mk6 window switch upgrade

    Just wondering if anyone has done an upgrade from the standard Mk5 electric window switches to Mk6 ones with the aluminium finishes. Are they more durable than the Mk5 ones?
    I've just picked up a Mk5 GTI and I'm amazed at how easily the switches and door handles/stereo fascia mark up or scratch. This may be due to age, I'd be staggered if they were that delicate from the factory...
