Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • DSG Oil Cooler Leak

After recently having my 2007 DSG serviced, I was hoping that replacing the filter housing and O-ring would solve the oil leak on top of the transmission housing.

Not the case, with a fresh leak coming from what appears to be the oil cooler.

I know the Oil cooler O-rings were replaced previously before my time in an attempt to stop this leak, which hasn't worked.

so what is my next move? Replace the O-rings again, or can a leak be coming from the cooler itself anywhere? From quite a bit of searching most references to a leak seem to refer to the oil filter housing O-ring or the cooler o-rings. So i'm a little stumped.

    Thanks

Never mind, got the cooler o rings changed. After driving several hundred K's, the leak looks 90% better than previously so I will live with it and keep an eye on it.
