Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well VW Aust assured me it wasnt a demo. They told me that demo's are bought by the dealers, not loaned to them an all VIN numbers are recorded.

Also, when it was inspected (all new cars that arrive are inspected before hand over) the car had only 7km on it, this is stated on the inspection form. The dates were all correct, so it couldn't have been a demo. It arrived in the country as new and in mid May. I know that it was placed on order from a dealer too.

What dealers do, i found out by a mate who works for Holden, that when you purchase a new car, they sometimes order it from dealers that may already have placed an order/orders with the company, to get it in fast!

I only waited about 3-4 weeks for it.

My only concern is that it was taken for a joy ride, because when i asked for a test drive before i bought it, they had none in manual, so i drove the EOS instead, which has the same specs and power.

Question, they say that you get 5.7ltr/100Km, but i only got 620Km on a tank.... i sort of hammered it, but not the majority of the time.... i thought i would get about 750-900km a tank!! A tank lasted me 2 full weeks anyway....

    regards,
    George

I know VW and diesel's are strong but.......

        Thank you,

IIRC Consumer Affairs allows a new car to have up to 499km (then it becomes a demo) and a demo up to 4999km (then it becomes a used car). I'm not saying it right but that's the technical limits.

I think I'd be more comfortable doing a first oil/filter change at 5000-7500km. After that, it depends on how you use the car & how long you intend to keep it.

And I have no doubt that most sane peeps would not "thrash" in the way you "thrash"! I really enjoyed the ride.

                Oil change interval

My only question is what does the service sticker on the windscreen say? then read the "7500 Km oil change opinions" thread in the Diesel section. I have had my 2 cents worth in there about what applies to my Passat and I expect that the issues are the same for your Golf.

I'll just stess again 15000 Km oil change intervals only apply if you use low sulphur fuel. That means import it from Europe or drive to Perth and use the BP ultimate diesel on trial there. Anything else is in Australia is high sulphur fuel in VW language.
Granite Passat sedan TDI (125kw), DSG, beige leather
Candy White Polo 6R, 66TDI, DSG, no options
