Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • What's wrong with my heater/aircon?

Hi everyone. Hoping your collective wisdom might help. I have a Mk5 R32, she is my baby, her name is Thumper.

The heater is not working and the aircon works fine only if I set it between 16.5 degrees up to about 21 degrees.

I am worried as the bits and pieces I've read could indicate that to repair it would mean getting the whole dash out (i.e. a rather expensive fix). Ufortunately the vagcom we have at home only reads up to Mk4 so we can't plug it in to see if it's some electronic setting that might fix it.

Have any of you had a similar issue that might know what I might be up for? Thank you in advance

In addition to my wife's post, is there anyone close to Lugarno that would be happy to scan it, as I'm hoping it is a sensor or flap issue?

    Thanks in advance.
