  • long crank time, fuel check valve or injection pump??

hey guys I've been having problem with
long crank time... instead of engine instant start, it will take 1.5-2 seconds
to start. and the moment it starts the engine vibrate like MAD for 0.1
    second.
the long crank time happens no matter if the engine is cold
or hot. even if I just turn off the engine for 1 second, it will have the same
1.5-2 seconds crank time, other than that no problem.

im guessing it's the fuel pump check valve, or could be anything
else? but can't find any information on how to replace it. I don't even know
    where it is... any ideas?

    Try a new battery.
    Diesels need a healthy one.

Thanks for reply finally. I think battery is very healthy. When staring with headlights on they don't even dim. Has 11v when cranking.

$30 valve should have no problem if I can diy. Could it be problem with injection pump? It's $1400 for the part O.o

I had a simular. Problem with the gt diesel I had. Occasionally if I had not driven it for a few days it refused to start I had to keep on cranking till it started some times 20 seconds. Then it started ok. For weeks.

Perform an upper intake clean, using a diesel-specific intake cleaner such as that offered by Liqui Moly.

Remove the EGR valve and clean that out as well.

Battery voltage is one thing, but if the cranking speed is too slow, you'll be up for a starter motor. Engine needs to spin to at least 280rpm before the injectors will function.
