Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Car is in great condition thanks to careful servicing and maintenance by the previous owner.

Has stage 2 APR, with a Carbonio Air intake, upgraded fuel pump and down pipe.

I believe it is the standard exhaust, sounds great though!

Super impressed with the DSG. Silky smooth changes are addictive and that sound!

My plans are simple for now: keep it clean, enjoy it, keep my license!

Nice pick up mate, looks great! Only suggestion would be to lower it a little bit Love your plans though, keeping the licence is always good.

        Modern tecnocrap.

You know you'll miss not having the MK2. With the MK5 you'll never have fun fixing it by the side of the road or trying to find parts that don't exist in Oz or all the other great stuff associated with driving a 24 year old classic.

How can you have a satisfied life when you know you will get to where you're going and on time? You must be getting old.

Bet you even the heater works.

        Looks good though, good pickup.

        Cheers

        Paul

          Lol Paul,
          Sign of the times.
I will miss the mk2, don't get me wrong!
That car was with with me for 14 years!! A lot of fond memories. Some including being broken down on the side of expressways- waiting 2 hrs for a tow truck at 3 am !!

Can't say I will miss that!

I don't think I've ever had to be rescued in any of my old Golf's and I bought my first one in 1986. Sure they have broken down but they were always repairable and that includes blowing a radiator hose half way between Canberra and Sydney at 10pm on a deserted stretch of the old Hume Highway. Would have been over 25 years ago.

My wife looked at me as only wives can and said where are you going to find water out here.

More by luck than good planning we broke down next to a pine forest which had a barrel of water just sitting there. Repaired the broken radiator hose with some pantyhose, filled up with water and left the radiator cap off so there was no pressure on the repair. It got us back to Canberra 150ks away.

At least I'll have lots of stories to tell my grandkids. My kids aren't interested and only want to know if we're there yet.

I was stranded half way between Nambucca Heads and Coffs Harbour while driving to Sydney.
Apart from that incident (which I blame on my then lack of knowledge of auto electrics) most issues were fairly easy fixes.

I hope the new owner has as much fun as I had.
I know I will one day buy a MK2 again, probably not a black one though ( that car was like a little oven in summer!!)

Last night ordered my plates. Didn't want any yellow and black ones so I've order some nice slim line black and whites.

Took the mkv out for a quick shoot.
Some nice dramatic clouds around this afternoon and finished work a bit earlier.

                  Thanks Ian,
I'm sure I'll get a few years out of this one. It's in stunning condition for its age.

My plates have arrived! So time to personalize the reflex!

Ordered a 8in touchscreen GPS headunit to replace the outdated rcd300.

Also close to committing to a set of these-
