Well i finally found some wheels i like better than my stock classixs wheels. classixs wheels are 17x7 and my new ones are 17x8.5 i wanted to keep 17" as its a daily driver and dont want to spend mega bucks on tyres but i wanted something wider to make it slightly fatter and to reduce sidewall flex. they're very similar design and came from a 2008 Audi TT.

NOW for some info for you mkv'ers. these wheels i have are 8.5" wide with offset of +50 (ET50). they are only a few mil from the suspension on the front (literally a few mil) and they are right at the edge of the guards. any wider and you will have to lower your offset by however much wider you go than 8.5 inch (and do some serious rolling of the guards). hope this clarifies some confusion for you prospective wheel buyers.

    so... pics ja!

and what the stock wheels were:

Thanks for posting that Mischa. They are the same offset and width as the BBS wheels that I have. When lowering even these wheels rub on the front inner liner guard tabs on tight fast turns so with 19s plus rims then people will have trouble if they want them low...
The Golf looks great too by the way mate!!!

how'd they fit with coilovers at the back? is the diameter of the coilover strut + spring bigger than the stock strut? must be mighty tight
            cheers.

The coils go in the same place as the originals with a very flash little adjuster in there. That is inside the control arms.

Looking sweet as. +1 for getting some VW caps. But I'd look at getting a rear colour coded GTI bumper before worrying about lowering it.
                    Good stuff.

Those wheels look nice. All you have to do now is drop the ride height a little.

anyone know of wheels that come in 17x10 rear and 17x8.5 front? just realised that the rear still has about 20mil clearance to the strut and i wouldnt mind about 20mil of poke so 17x10 on the rear with +50offset would acheive that perfectly. all i can think of is bbs 3peice and ugly schmidt wheels bbs might bust the bank a bit too badly...

btw gti bumper is on, tail lights are nice and dark and i've done my badges in a fairly unique way so there'll be some pictures soon
