Use of the Aux In in centre console

Must of been one of the most frustrating parts of buying the jetta.
I was told the 07 had mp3 compat.head unit by a friend who also bought a Jetta after me, only to find it could only play cd's. That was a downer.

Anyway, with aux input, does that also allow the cd changer to remain operational?

Also the aux input you control the tracks you want to listen through the mp3 player and the volume via the head unit yeah?

Any ideas where to get the oem aux input and price? I couldnt find anything yet.
Only for the usb which is $300+ usd. Still cheaper alternative to 2-3K for new head unit that will do it all.

To select input from the aux in you select aux in from the CD button by hitting it twice until aux in shows up on the lcd

Control is done via the mp3 player not the head deck, volume works on the head deck and steering wheel as well though

My MY08 is MP3 compatible (currently has 6 mp3 CD's in it

I had a look at an R32 today, and the aux input was present in the centre console (under the armrest, right on the front face of the cavity).

WTF!!! mine is MY08 Sep07 built DSG and I don't have this AUX IN jet !!! maybe this doesn't worry to me much, I never own a personal mp3 player, nor do I have more than 2 cds worth of mp3 collections ...

Damn! I don't have it either. My08 Sept DSG GTI.
I was also told I couldn't have both bluetooth kit and IPOD connector.

yeah i have an early MY08 3 door GTI and it doesnt have the Aux in.

I'd strongly suggest you check the build plate in the boot.

It should have it being a Feb 08 build

Not having the amp is not unusual if it had been fitted with the Satnav audio system

Just picked up my FEB build 3 door GTI and it has a AUX input, the dealer didnt even know they had them hahahahaha stuff forking out $400 for an ipod connection

Yep ..all you need is a male 3.5 mm to male 3.5 mm cable and away you go it seems.
