  • Use of the Aux In in centre console

I was wonderign what use is made of the aux in connector in the centre console .. can it be used to run MP3 players etc? If so why is there an IPOD option from the dealers when I bought the car?

      Hi,

It works great with any MP3 player with 3.5inch jack (earphones plug) - all you have to do is buy a cable from JayCar****Norman. The ipod installation only works with iPOD - it charges it and integrates with head unit and steering wheel contro (I could not see a value in it)

MY08 GTI DSG - has the aux in.

Dealer said all MY08 GTI's have it now.

Mine is a later build 08.

Works well. Wish they put the 12v outlet in there as well and powered without the key on.

Look in the centre console arm rest and it is towards the front of the inside of that compartment. I only noticed it by accident .. and could not find anything in the manual about it .. henc ethe question here

I also plug my Asus GPS PDA into the aux in - works great with directions pumped through the stereo.

While I'm waiting for wifey at her work, I plug the 80gb Ipod in and watch a few movies with audio through the car stereo.

Transformers is awesome through the stock audio

What about a photo of the position of the 'aux in' in the centre console?

On my GTI, it is just a 3.5mm stereo socket and is labelled AUX IN
