Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • AirCon/Heater flip flip flip, click click glove box area

    Hey all,
Did a bit of research on this, basically there were 2 responses:

Fuel lines flapping against firewall - is an issue that was resolved apparently in a service release?
Recirculation valve of some sort in the AC/Heater system behind glove box area.

So I switched off the AC/heater and there was no noise, back on and its usually consistent to idling at the lights and not rhythmic, so different every time. Assume culprit is the Ac/heater unit with flappy valve issue or something along those lines. Flap flap, click click click pause........ flap click.
Anyone got any info on this and if I should just ignore it?
    Cheers,
    Cheddo.

    Climatronic?

Is it quiet, as in you can only just hear it?

If so, it's the blend flap adjusting to maintain your chosen temperature.

Yeah quite noticeable when sitting at lights on idle, don't usually have much MP3/radio volume when wife and mini me is with me, this is when I notice the most.

Could be worth trying a basic set on it.

I get the same noise. It is quite annoying, but can't think of what I am doing to make the sound

Although it sounds it goes off at random intervals, I'm sure there is some commonality to ot

              A basic set?
As it is quite cold in VIC atm, common setup is AC on, dual zone set to 22 deg, recirculate to on or off doesn't seem to make any difference.

What Umai said. I notice the flaps in nearly every climatronic car.

The knocking is the motor reaching its end stop

A basic set may or may not fix it

Sorry, asked this before also - what is a basic set?

Bascially, through a combination of button-pressing, you can run it through a re-learn procedure that will re-calculate all the end-positions of the flap motors.

I have been wondering what the noise has been for the past few months, guessed it was just something adjusting itself electronically.
Will also give the reset a go tomorrow and see if it resolves the tapping
