need some help here, my MY15 Jetta has developed a strange single knock/click when I accelerate mid to hard off the start only , definitely coming from the front end.

if i take off lightly (normal) no sound, but mid-hard it clicks/knocks only one time, pretty loud...

wondering if anyone has had the same problem
has a new battery
when key is turned for start it randomly will either start or just click
sometimes it will click 3-4 times and then start fine but have to remove key first
im thinking starter or ignition barrel
