ust want to clarify, the dealer replaced your actual RNS510 unit? I want to replace my MDF2 unit and am awaiting the RNS510 coming into the country as a part.

To be honest, I had already purchased my 510 before we saw the 9000 otherwise i would have seriously considered it.
The only concern of mine would be the bluetooth microphone on the actual HU and flakey looking software.
Its also missing the HD and there are a few other advantages with the 510 that the 9000 doesnt have.
Having said this i still think its a good unit but i do prefer the 510.

I would be extremely surprised it they are playing in anywhere near the same league.

VW....as soon as you get off your corporate backside and make these units available, you're going to sell a 's**tload'. Wake up.....

              Here here!!

It's sad but VW have no idea how to sell/support their own product.

I've been waiting nearly 4 weeks now for my RNS 510 DVD/maps disc and I’ve no idea when/if it will be resolved.

I rather stick with tomtom than avc9000....

I am going to use my car for 8 years. I am not sure if avc9000 will still be there...at least tom tom...bigger than auspac...

which company will be using the same dvd map as avc9000??route 66....

At least tom tom with whereis......

I've had tom tom before, great product, and the thieves know it, they are now breaking into cars with the sucker marks on the windscreen (its been a huge epidemic in the UK), knowing that there is prob a tomtom in the glovebox, under the seat. decent one will cost $400 ish. the standard CD player is **** IMO so for me $900 is a fair price when i combine the extra functionality of the headunit and the satnav compared to $3000 odd from VW which i cant justify on a car i dont intend keeping for any more than 18 months to 2 years.

route66 have been around for a long time too, ive had various incarnations of their software for many years.

I also reckon that "satnav" on a 2nd hand one will still bump the value up as much as an RNS510 for the uneducated punter at sale time.

Hoping to get out and see the demo unit soon an make mu judgements then.

I'd just be satisfied with an update to the version 12 software that I've been using with the OEM MFD2 SatNav that I've got in my 2006 GTI.

Mind you, the "whereis" software would need to be a serious improvement over an above version 12. It is the pits.

I only wish I could find an alternative software supplier that would work in the MFD2 unit.

                          New R32 with RNS-510

Just picked up my brand new 2008 build R32 today (with RNS-510) and after much "gentle" persuasion I managed to get the following "maybe" ETA's out of VW Head Office.

Premium Bluetooth support (totally integrated)... Late May 2008
Integrated iPod adapter (with on screen support for iPod functions) 3Q 2008.

I am picking up my Version 14 Nav disk tommorow (you will hear me all around Sydney if it's not there!)

I'll stay in touch if anything changes. Needless to say, the dealer had no idea BUT it seems certain to me that the dealers simply haven't been told.

                            crhendo,

I have been battling with VW for 5 weeks now for my RNS 510 disc. I've been told that disc is finally available and i can collect today

You are getting the same b*ll that i went through with VW i.e. no disc arrived with your car and then you are getting fobbed off with version 14 disc.

I think it's pathetic that VW dealers and "customer assistance" ( i use that term loosely) don't have a clue how to support their own product. When i attended the Brissy motor show they were heavily promoting the RNS 510 giving out glossy flyers etc...yet when the product arrives in the country they bury their heads in the sand.

Nobody i know has loaded the V14 disc onto RNS 510 yet - give it a go and post the reults, i have a sneaky suspicion it will not work.

The disc you need is Part No: 7L6.919.859.B (Currently version 1)

The DVD is V1 for the RNS510 as far as VW are concerned, however it contains Whereis V14 data which is their latest version of data available.
Maybe this is where some confusion is coming from.
