Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Doors not unlocked when use key to unlock

    Hi Guys

Im not so sure if this is normal but here it is. When i unlock my mk5 r32 with the key, only the driver door is unlocked and the rest of the 3 doors is locked. I have to double press the unlock button on the key and sometimes more for the other doors to be unlocked. Its very inconvinient sometimes for my passagers.

    Has anyone experienced this before?

    Thanks
    Henry

You can change this behaviour with VCDS to single stage unlock

On the Mk6, you can adjust the door locking behaviour through the steering wheel buttons and MFD screen. Its under the "Convenience" heading. Not sure if you can do this on the Mk5, but worth a look.

You can set it to unlock just the drivers door, all doors, or drivers side front and rear, or passenger side front and rear. I have mine set to "all doors" because, like you, i found it annoying to only unlock the drivers door.

As far as I know, you need to change in VCDS. You can also get the windows to auto close or require a long press to close them. Rain closing is another option if you like to leave the windows down a bit.

You can do it in Golf V without a VCDS if the MFD is full height.

You could try to see if there is someone near you to help setup the modules. NSW has lots of members depending on where you are.

                    Its actually nice sometimes,

if its raining and its my turn to drive to get lunch I usually let my colleague get a bit wet first while they are locked out.

hopefully will discourage them for nominating me to drive next time.
