Over past couple of days the boss and I took the R32 for a run along the GOR out to Warnambool. What a great car. It was the first time I've really been able to have a good play with the various gearbox modes...I'm just so glad I didn't buy the manual, the DSG was brilliant.
Handling and braking, on surfaces that weren't always all that good was impressive. Ride quality continues to surprise. I don't know how a car with so little suspension travel, and on low profile tyres can ride as well as it does.
Fuel consumption worked out at 9.1 lts/100km. It got as low as 8.2, before I gave in to temptation.
On the other hand, some of the other drivers that we came across left a fair bit to be desired. The two who took the cake were the bloke in the Diahatsu who was drifting along at about 70% of the speed limit, wouldn't pull off into any of the 'slow vehicle' spots, and had a huge queue behind him; and the twit in a Prado who was driving quickly, but using the entire road to do so. In fact he was actively blocking, and came very close to collecting a bike rider who tried to get past, and also a vehicle coming the other way.
