Well the fastening bits and pieces for the side skirts finally came in, so I've had them fitted with a Gti rear bumper and colour coded. I had it done at the VW Dealership at 'cost' price ($1100 for parts, fitting and painting) and although it looks great, they didn't sand back the parts before spraying them, so when you look closely you can see the textured finish.
They have told me that it is not possible to sand the parts back to a smooth finish, but I'm quite certain I've read about several people on this forum having had it done. I told them as much, and now I'm waiting for a response. I'm not too bothered if it remains the way it is, and I'm grateful that they were even interested in helping me out in the first place, but I also figure that if your going to do a job, you might as well do it properly.
Anyway here's the result.... Apologies for the very low quality phone pics - I'll get some better pics when I find the charger for my damn camera.

Well the downside of having this done is that the rims now look horribly small and understated (to me anyway), so when finances allow I'll be whacking something a bit more showy on it.
