Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

What 2.0T are you revving to 8000rpm? I think you hold the world record by a very large amount if you achieve that.

We can hold 30 - 35PSI to redline (which all three of our stage 3+ cars have) with the stock DV there is no "cracking open".

I'm happy to put my money where my mouth is - prove any of the above with data, and I'll switch all our cars instantly over to them. Your are welcome to use our dyno to show us (you can even choose the car), and I'll allocate you a tech - you can even run the dyno yourself.

If you understand how the stock DV works, you would think twice about it. I suppose the same could be said for requiring a boost controller on cars struggling to make 250kws at the wheels where we use the factory ECU boost control & N75 on cars running in excess of 300kw's at the wheels - its understanding why VW designed the product the way it is..

The "Light Throttle" driveability is in the mapping, not the DV. Once again, anyone is welcome to test drive any of our demonstrator cars & test the "light throttle application".

VW spent a lot of money developing the 2.0T/TFSI engines & boost control. Nothing against any of the other aftermarket manufacturers, but do you truly believe they could make engine driveability (boost control) better than VW?

GFB are a great company, make good stuff & know there technical stuff well. Would I recommend one of their valves to one of our customers as a great investment to spend cash on? No.

I have to agree with that.

Guy why do you turn everything into a competition? If you get out from under your APR rock and look what other people around the world are doing you will see people run HUGE amounts of boost (40psi+) to 9000rpm on the 2.0L engine. Its just they dont give a crap about telling the entire world.

All i did was add my opinion for the OP to take into consideration. I dont care about your money and your big mouth.

Im not sure if the comment regarding a boost controller was directed at me but we dont use aftermarket boost controllers on any cars making 250awkw (on a roller dyno) The BOSCH MED9 boost and load control is very very smart. You cannot beat it.

I dont actually believe that you have a good understanding of how the ECU works, after all your just a dealer for APR in America. If you understood the ECU you would know about the DV maps i was talking about, its common knowledge. If you want to go on about partial throttle and proper map control, maybe you should look at your products poor boost control first and then start bagging others.

This to me is an example of no boost control, almost no time has been spent getting this under control. But hey, its not your fault, your just a dealer. Thats just the way it is.

For anyone who is reading this wondering "Gee i wonder who makes the most power" the truth is. All tuning companies with half a brain offering top performance will pretty much be on par with 1 another. There is no magic formula that 1 person has over the other.

After you reply to this Guy, i wont be responding for 2 reasons. 1 i cannot understand how you think trying to shut down any other company (including me) on the forum helps you, this does not help you. It makes you look stupid. 2. I dont care.

Anyway, i hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. If you would like to talk to someone who will not bag out the competition and offers the best customer service possible, please feel free to contact myself.

I'm sorry Ben for the late reply - been out of the office yesterday (see our Harding Performance update later today in the sponsors forum).

Thanks for posting up that dyno plot - that shows why you will never understand what is going on, and you will never be able to match anything that we (APR) do.

35 stage 3 kits later, now 2 WORLD records in house, and thousands & thousands of happy customers around the country speak for themselves.

I'll leave my offer open for you to prove your statements (& I will call them out as bulls**t until you prove otherwise).

To the OP - I'm glad that removing your aftermarket DV and replacing it with a stock unit has solved your issues. As mentioned, this has been seen dozens of times before, and I'm glad our advice has helped you solve an issue.
