Hi Folks,
I wonder if anyone has had the same issues with the supercharger intake on a GT Sport 2008 model (1.4, 125KW)?
The cars seems to be running a bit rough when starting recently, when the choke is on. It sounds like there's a slight mistiming every 4-5secs like the timing is out on a cylinder?
The engine warning light came on flashing so I turned the engine off and on again and that seemed to fix it. As a matter or precaution I took it to the Kmart garage at the end of the road. They said a fault code for the Supercharger intake had registered however the engine light hasn't stayed on. When driving it seems ok and the Supercharger & Turbo seem to work ok. I'm just worried incase I might be doing damage to the engine internally?
About six months ago the engine management light came on and stayed on. I took the car to Euroclass for a service and they informed me the following codes had registered.
P2261 Boost Pressure Control Valve
P2263 Turbo / Superchager system fault
P2015 Intake manifold flap position.
They changed the spark plugs and a coil and that seemed to do the trick. The guy at the time said these engines have lots of faults and he'd seen several blowing up.
I've since read of problems with Piston Rings on these engines amongst lots of other faults. The car has only done 7000Km's since that last fault (total 76000KM) so I don't think it can be the spark plugs. Fuel shouldn't be problem as I run 98 and from Shell, BP or Caltex so not the same garage all the time. I've tried to use Octane Boost and Injector cleaner and that helps slightly.
If anyone has any ideas or have had the same issues it would be great to know. Especially if it's a big or expensive one as cash is a big tight at the moment.
Are there any good or recommended Non-VW service centres anyone can recommend. Preferably in the Inner East or Inner West or Melbourne.
Many Thanks
Jono
