Hi - newbie from Perth here joined because our 118TSI convertible has just started the famous supercharger squeal AFTER having the water pump replaced...the replacement unit was a Geba so can only assume it was an old one from somewhere.

Hi all - my mechanic has suggested my supercharger pulley / belt is wearing which is what's causing a squeal when its cold, sounds like a fanbelt slipping sort of noise. It goes away when its warmed up.

My GT Sport has started making a lovely clattering noise over the last few days, at idle and when revving, local mechanic thinks it might be something to do with the supercharger clutch.

It has done 172000km's, so I guess it's not too surprising that something...

What I mean is that the TSI supercharger isn't like a "done up" muscle car with a supercharger that wines. I just don't understand what it does in this engine. Is there an extra belt?
