Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I ordered early November. SD saving for me was about $1,200 which paid for Bluetooth and tinting when I get the car.

But SD is calculated when you take delivery. which means the dealer absorbed it for you.

regardless whether they absorbed it for me or now. i agreed on a price that i was happy to pay for my spec. my fd paid $42.5 for a stock dsg in Apr07. with 2.5k more i got metallic paint + leather + extra 1% SD, so i think i have done ok.

Yes that right dealer absorbed it. At the end of the day everyone pays something different, when you get your baby who cares!

Welcome mate. I have owned a GTi MK5 2005 for over two years and it is a fanatastic machine, i came from before that from a barina sri, s14 and wrx and vw is a whole level high, quality, machanical and extra.

I have upgraded to a r32 2008 and this is not better or better than the gti but a total experience. Dont get caught up that r32 is better than a gti and vise versa. Take a gti and r32 and you will decide with your heart and then by money.

              That's cheap - around 8k discount!!!
When did you buy it and where from? Does that include on roads?
Is that what other people have experienced or is this an unheard of great deal?
              cheers

thanks mate, i dont want to consider the R32 as its out of budget. Im currentlyy spending a heap on fuel every week on the rex im not looking forward to another petrol guzzler considering my heavy right foot

Im keeping a lookout on the used car market for a GTi thats got everything that I want
