Delivery Kilometres @ handover

Howdi guys,

Know its probably a fairly pointless exercise asking, but I was wondering if any of you could remember how many kilometres your cars had at time of delivery?

My last car had 35 klicks which I thought was pretty excessive on a new car considering all options were factory options.

I know it depends on alot of things - paint protection, tinting, dealer options etc.

Anyway - was more out of curiosity than anything - know it makes no difference to the amount of k's my car will have on it in a couple of weeks time (hopefully close to 0 )

Also - how many have bought from Essendon Volkswagen? What are they like to deal with?

My GTi was delivered from Essendon VW with 28km's on the clock. I don't think those K's are to excessive. When i was working for Porsche in church st Richmond it would be common for the guy's to rack up 20-25k's to give the car an O.K.

I have nothing but good things to say about Essendon Vee dub. Maybe because i was dealing with the dealer principle Don Clavert, i'm not sure.

Everytime i have a warranty issue they been more tan happy to resolve the problem. When i buy another VW it will be from them.

There was a thread here somethere what I read that the odometer can be reset back to 0 if it's still under 100km. In many respects I would rather get a car with 150km on the clock and know what it had done rather than 1.2km and not know that it had been drive to and from the workshop 12 times a day for a week. (by the service guy who thrashed the pants off it).

Yeah can be set a limited amount of times, i cant remember what my Golf had on it, was less than 50, the Pogo had about 90 or something, doesnt worry me really...nothing you can do about it unless you wanna say..."i dont want my car and i want to wait another few months for a new one"

OH NO! i'm going to pickup mine today, and i've asked the saleman yesterday what's the mileage on it, he said 13km !!! sounds a bit dodgy to me as the car is compliance in Oct, so does this mean my odo has been reset a couple of times ???

haha you worry too much dude!

it might genuinly have 13km on it, it might not....but theres nothing you can do about it so just enjoy your new toy!!!!

i think mine had 22kms on it. but yeah. the cars get road tested. so dont stress too much.

mine had 39000 on the clock

my ex bought a suzuki sx4 and that had about 15km on the clock. I dont think you can reset suzuki's kms, i dont think thay have the technology for that

mine had 13... it had no options so they didnt have to drive it anywhere

I know i'd be very weary of the KMs on the clock.

I took a Mazda 3 MPS for a test drive a while back - The dealer gave it a thrash through the carpark over to me and then encouraged me to belt it on the test drive.

Had 6kms on it. Dealer wasn't worried if it was cold engine or not - And when it warmed up for me I gave it a good whuppin'.

After the drive I asked what the dealer usually sells those demos for after they've been used and he said "Demo? That's a brand new car being delivered xx" Had 6kms on it before our little test drive.

Mine had somewhere in the 20s, my previous Freelander had 7, and my Jeep had 125000 (oh wait, it was s/hand ).

I too have a flog someone's car story ... many moons ago went to test drive an N15 Pulsar SSS, and the dealer used someone's car waiting in pre-delivery ...
