Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Agree entirely. In my new R32 I was holding up traffic on the eastern freeway. Imagine the frustration of the line of cars that eventually passed me !

All cars should read accurately so traffic flows together without accurately set cars seemingly speed past.

Its my choice to drive AT the speed limit or under.

      Anyone found resolution from this?

I too have noticed it and its quite frustrating sitting on 120 on your dial to not hold up traffic on the highways.

I've had my car just under 2 months and racked up 5400km...So while I can feel its speed pretty well now I'm also aware of how frustrating this issue is.

Its like driving my old patrol with its oversized tyres. Speedo and odometer really don't tell you much at all.

I've posted in here how to fix it, do a search as it was only last week.

http://my-gti.com has the how to guide.

The warning speedo thingo in my MFD shows the same speed as indicated by the speedo.

The speed through the climate control screen is the real speed and follows my GPS more readily. And its on 19.0 not 19.1.

Seems I am doomed to have a forever inaccurate speedo. Oh well. Less likely to get a ticket i guess!

Adjusting with VCDS didnt give me the result i was looking for.
            It made very little difference.
Before adjustment; speedo on 110-112 climate showed 102-103
After adjustment; speedo on 109 climate shows 102-103 so really only a very slight difference.
            Very dissapointing.

Was your speedo set on 3 and you changed it to 7?

What country is your cluster coded to? Mine for some reason is coded to Europe not Australia (from the factory and I haven't changed it yet to save me having to check all my VCDS changes!).

You're still on standard wheels and tyres aren't you?

Did you odo reading mess up? Mine looks ok but I need to do further testing (finding some mile markers around Brisbane is a pain)
