      3 years 6 months @ 45,000kms - still seems strong.

had a weak start a few months back so i switched off all the convenience lighting (lights on when locking/unlocking) and it was back to normal within a couple of days.

          Mine's 3 years 10 months and it's fine.

Even after the missus left the parkers on for 12 hours and a 15 min charge from the MK2 it's been just as good.

3.5 years and close to 90,000kms

Wanted to get it changed over, but they tested insted and stated "Average"

They slso said that some have been known to last for six years!

Will probably get it done before winter though as it only takes one cold day!

              3 yrs 9 months 110000k's.
I would expect about 5 years depending upon the way the car is driven etc.

                    4 years 7 months.
It tested 100% for every service so far except for the last one a month ago where it scored about 90% so I guess it's on the way out.

Factory batt is good for 5yrs , but environment and conditions, stuff hooked up to it may alter time. After 5yrs your replacement will last around 2-3. VW cover some batts if stuffed so those who have that drama you will have another 5yrs from replacement I get good deals on Batteries, but will only be good for 2-3
                      cheers

I took mine out at 5.5 years but that was because I had left the fridge in the boot running by mistake. I bought a new battery because I misdiagnosed the reason[fridge switches off when battery gets down to a certain voltage] for the no start. I have since recharged the original battery & a load test has shown it to still be Ok. If it was still in the vehicle[6 years] it may have lasted until next winter. Mine is the 2.0 TDI as well. I was disappointed with the replacement battery. Even though it is to some DIN standard, it is not as tall as the original & the cables didn't fit as well. The original Varta battery in my T4 lasted 9 years & I can tell the replacement will be lucky to see 3 years.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
