Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Johnny come lately.

      Congrates on the purchase Timbo.

Bit of a pain in the bum about the service though.

Regarding running in. The engine has already been dyno run, test run, test driven. It's run in.
I would still change the oil at 1500km though.

The only thing in a freshly built engine that has to be bed in (beside's a new cam for 20mins) is the ring's, that's it.
That's why it's best to run it in hard to bring the cyl. pressure's up, which in turn force the ring's into the cyl. wall's & bed the ring surface in.

If you don't, you glaze the cyl. hone textured style surface & it can't bit into the ring's as much.
The only remedy is to rehone it.

            Fairly ordinary product knowledge.

Hope they spelled Germany with a capital "G".

Not to worry anyways. Ill most likely be getting the car serviced at glenwaverly (ill see how they go with my radio. im sure they will be happy to steal my business) As they are closest to home. Only reason i got the car from south yarra was their sales people were actually friendly.
I was really careful when shopping around and I hated the service at South Yarra so when through Glen Waverly who I can safely say were fantastic... They did a big reveal, spent over 90mins running through everything, and then I drove it out of the showroom...

I tend to follow the wind. I got better service when buying the car from one dealer. If another one wants my follow on business more than another well then thats fine by me too. After 1.5 weeks of ownership i hold no loyalties so far. Just to say im more impressed with the treatment i got at glenwaverly. The service guy even offered to make me a cup of coffee whilst i waited for them to download the code for my radio
