Congratulations, Tim!Originally posted by Tim View Postnah it was South Yarra VW. Their biggest claim to fame is leaving in the suspension chock thingies. I know of at least 3 people they have done that to. Ud excuse it once! Not to worry anyways. Ill most likely be getting the car serviced at glenwaverly (ill see how they go with my radio. im sure they will be happy to steal my business) As they are closest to home. Only reason i got the car from south yarra was their sales people were actually friendly.
Sorry to hear of the tooling around at delivery. I got mine from them in July and was very happy with the handover. It took about 3/4 hour with loooong explanations about the basic controls (I just wanted to drive it!), a handover of 1st aid kit, opener, manual, warranties &c.. Only one hiccup - someone forgot to install the mats (they were in the boot) - no biggy, but they were the wrong ones, so I'm glad I stayed to have them fitted - it's a long drive from Adelaide to South Yarra!
Happy driving.2007 Golf GT | DSG | TR | roof | iPod rubbish | R line fog grilles | R satin mirror caps | R pedals | R console trim | colour coded GTI valences | R32 Ormanyts

well I'm glad I found this thread!! I didn't get a bottleopener with my R32 and no mention of it by the dealer! Will call tomorrow and track it down. No doubt I won't get a first aid kit thrown in, i'd put money on the dealer trying to make me pay for the damn opener too!
I bought from barloworld mascot. I think if I wasn't so stoked with the R32's preformance I would be pretty pissed by the service. Made an appointment for the hand over and when I turned up, the dealer made me wait 20 mins while he tried to sell a car to some other customers. Didn't even acknowledge I was waiting. run through the car took less than 5 mins...
Oh well... the cars too much fun to stay annoyed..

AHHHH!
I was supposed to have mine today.
I actually put it off untill tomorrow as I had booked it as a day off to pick it up and take it for a country run to help run it in.
Salary people + Lease people lost all my paperwork between them and I have had to run around getting it all done again.
Hopefully they will have it all done so I can still pick it up tomorrow, even if I can only pick it up late. At least I will have the rest of the long weekend to go for a drive.
I hope it doesn't get delayed or else it will seem a real LOOOOONG weekend.

congrats on the car Tim. i have on order a similar spec GTI. 3dr candy white, DSG and leather.
ordered mid-august and have been bugging my dealer ever since about whether it has been built. all i've received is "hasn't been built yet", blah blah blah. mind you, when i signed the contract it was indicated i should have been able to pick it up in 6 weeks. i knew it would never be that soon though.
anyway so today i rang vw australia armed with my commision number. first go i got the, "i can't help you. speak to the dealer...i'll put you through to the complaints department". second go the guy advised the car is scheduled to be built in the 43rd week - and even that is unconfirmed. anyway so if it is built in the last week of october i won't get the car until probably something like early january. which is longer than i expected but i suppose, as everyone says, it will be worth the wait.
i am so unimpressed by the service i've received and have made a list of things to check when picking up the car (bottle opener, mats, etc). its gonna be a long wait

6 weeks is dreaming! unless there was a car already built that they wanted to allocate to you i think from memory it takes 5 weeks just on the boat!
seems most people have been getting 4 - 4.5 months for a custom spec order. Which i feel is reasonable give we live so far away from germany.

yeah i know. when i signed he said there was one on the boat which he'd try and get. obviously he couldn't, nor was i expecting it. i figured 3 months would be about right. being told every week by my dealer that it would be built "next week" has been BS and has kinda pissed me off. anyway that's my bitch for this evening.
