Jesus christ, lets all jump up and down. I would own a R32 anyday over a GTI.
Sorry about the over-reaction - too much time spent on other forums...

    My apologies.

The idea is to reduce driveline shock/shunt - something that manual R32s suffer from (moreso than the manual GTIs I've driven).

I had a good discussion with Guy, and of course DSGs where there is absolutely no clutch slip suffer worst of all, combine that with the "shuntiness" of the R32 driveline and an there is a fair amount of movement in the engine.

Guy also took the time to explain that if you were dead serious, you could also do the top mount though it would take a lot more work than I'm prepared to do.

Next weekend's projects (had to take wifey away for anniversary this weekend) are:

    Haldex
    OSIR Splitter
    Dogbone
    R32 Sill Strips
MK IV to MK V dead pedal conversion.

Will feedback on all of the above....

Well, thanks to an extremely good and nice customer, I had my windows tinted the other week. Makes a huuuge difference. Now I will have to get some nice pics. Sort of waiting for the coilover kit to turn up first. Its taken nearly 3 months now.....
        Cheers, Andrew

Thanks Rob, it looks great now. I am not sure whether to put the coilovers in before christmas (if they ever turn up!!!) as I am doing a trip to NSW over the break and will have 5 up on the return to Tassie! Ah, the convenience of 4 doors!!!
            Cheers!

Might be a good idea as an after chrissy thing then.
I guess it all depends how far away they are.

that tint looks the goods andrew.

lowering it may be best off after the trip considering that the ride comfort in the back may be reduced after the upgrade.

btw: sent an audo owner your way this afternoon (A3)

Cheers Mik. Havent heard from him yet.
Dont think my GTI has ever gone so well as what it is going at the moment. I might pack a spare coilpack before I head up to NSW, just in case!!!!

The tint really sets the car off, Andrew ... very nice.

Ah - Problem is a turbocharger actually muffles engine noise..

Meaning your turbocharged R32 would sound duller than a standard R32 - Well except for the turbo whistle.

Finally got my Koni coilover set. The ride isnt any harder at all. I was worried that it might be. I havent had a chance to try the handling out but to me it doesnt feel any diffeent to standard..... Hmmmm, might tighten the shocks a bit more.
                            Cheers, Andrew

It's about time u got these in! Loving the ride height!

I'm supprised to hear you didn't notice a difference in the handling. You need to firm them up and go for a blat through the hills!
