Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New Rims...finally picked some!

Thusrday is the day the R32 gets it's first visual mod (still also a performance one).

A brand spanking new set of O.Z. Ultraleggera rims will be tucked under gaurds come home time Thurs! (see attached)

Sticking with 18", but increasing width to 8" with a 48p offset. They weigh about 2/3's of the OEM rims which will hopefully lighten the front slightly. Keeping the OEM Bridgestons at present (225/40). Unfortunately, the Eibach Pro Kit Performance springs wont be here on time....so another day of the road down the track

I hope that's a good pretty, not a bad pretty. It's taken me months to find something that I think looks good....and bloody well fits with the R32's high offset (51p)

I think they look great. Love to see them fitted. Is it just me or are those kind of similar to the std R32 wheels, but just not so 'busy'? I always thought less spokes would look sweeter. Onya.

Rabbitoh....haven't weighed them myself, but have been led to believe they weigh approx. 12.25kg each. The OZ rims come in at around 8kg each

4kg a side doesn't sound much, but as % of the unsprung weight, it's not to bad. Hoping to take a little of the nose heavy feel out her.

                  They look the stink!

very euro and opens the rotors up to show you mean business.

the weight saving is amazing when you think about the %.

can you imagine how much all those ricey chrome wheels must weigh.

i have have been thinking of BBS CH with a darker powder coat. graphite.

i might put my wants on a dart board.. can't decide.

Know the feelin' mate...has taken me months to get this far. Had decided on either the TSW Holstan (wanted that real Euro, almost OEM feeling) or the Momo Corse Black. (both pics attached)

Spent 4 months trying to source the TSW's, but couldn't get anyone to ship to me as there is no Aust disty. When the Momo's finally arrived in 18", they only had a 32p offset on an 8" width which would've required some modding of the guards, especially with Eibachs going on.

They will look chalk and cheese compared to OEM's and I'll post some before and after's on Thursday night.

By the way, there is a set of Konig Hotswaps on the "For Sale" section that are on the car now that my wife bought as a pressie.....just didn't do it for me, but would look hot on a white GTI, Jetta, A4. PM me if you are interested. Only 4 weeks old

I'd think the Holstan would be more suited to Passats and Jettas with the low-riding look, but your choice on the Ultraleggeras is a top one!
