Yeh MFD is doing all you say and no issues with SD song names. However, I did notice that an album I copied to the HDD has no song titles/artist info. Haven't investigated any further than that.

I paid $999 straight off Ebay. Didn't you haggle with them directly?

Was that from the seller (sat_nav_online) in your first post or someone else?

I noticed another guy shipping stuff from Lithuania (used_parts_specialists) but they seem to vary in price upto around $1200-1300?

I bought one of those with LED screen from used_parts_specialists for $1040. Not sure what the difference is between these new ones and the previous ones. Can't fault the seller. Shipping took three working days and all emails replied same day. We even got talking and sending a file across Skype. Very happy with it. Even it bright sunlight, you can see the screen perfectly and the gps hooks up very quickly.

Gday, I bought mine from him and it has ended well. I ended up getting two units from him as the first unit was returned as it was not the "latest unit" as mentioned in his ad. He was great about it and offered a deal to get the latest unit.

I would however suggest that you get him to send a copy of the firmware as on both occasions, the unit had older firmware than specified. I upgraded with the provided firmware disc no probs.

                  Cheers, Michael.

I've now had my RNS 510 in for a few months and it's been great. I did have it crash and auto-reboot once just 2 weeks ago.. scared the crap out of me because the volume was up quite loud at the time and as it shut down, a loud noise was emitted through the stereo! Other than that tho, its an awesome upgrade for around 1k to an awesome car.

As mentioned above, in bright sun you can read the screen perfectly.

I love how the nav lady says 'go straight ahead for a very long time' always brings some chuckles in the car

                      Hi Amanda,

What version of map do you have installed on the unit? I had the very same issue occur on mine. VW fixed it by installing the latest version of maps on it - I think they put on v.3.

Ive had the same problem once, turned the car off and when i restarted it the RNS 510 didn't. drove down the road and it rebooted no troubles since and mine came V3 2010 maps and 2760 firmware.

I don't know Ian, I'll have to check it out! I must say, I've only used Nav a few times. I don't drive for work and the car is a weekender. Was a bit of an extravagance for me this purchase... but hey, I like gadgets

                            Hi Ian,
Where was the car at when it happened? I was driving in a known GPS blackspot on the F3 around Terrigal.

No the whole unit shut down,it could of over heated as i was using the GPS and playing music on a SD card, but that was over 2 months ago and ive has no dramas since.

When mine did the sudden crash/restart the car had only been running for about 5 - 10mins. It was a mild day, car was cool. I was listening to the radio, no GPS running.

The weekend prior the car went from Kensington to Bairnsdale and back over the weekend, the system ran without fault. I was using SD, CD and GPS during the return trip.

                                Weird.
