With the number of people on this forum with new TDIs & the service costs involved it makes sense to me to do our own services. I know many are not interested or haven't the time but for those who are, this forum can supply write ups or info needed. All of us need to pay while the cars are under warranty but after that I for one will be doing my own.
The major stumbling block for most people is the mystique surrounding these hi tech cars, that only your dealer has the highly trained mechanics who can work on your car.
I acknowledge that the info needed is a bit scarce at present but as time goes on this will change. Non genuine parts will be increasingly available & the serviceing/repair costs will be a fraction of the cost if you DIY.
