My wife and I are close to biting the bullet and buying a Jetta. What are we looking at servicing costs-wise? Average figures? Thanks!
EDIT - Forgot to mention we are looking at the 2.0 TDI.

Well, I can't really comment here, because I'll be servicing our new GTI myself. But I would suggest ringing a couple of different VW dealers and asking their service advisors what each of the services cost. Say a minor (15,000 km) and a major (90,000 km) as a couple of examples. Of course, these quotes will vary from dealer to dealer, depending on their labour rates and parts/oil mark-ups.
Your warranty depends upon stamped services. These need not necessesarily be done by a dealer as long as you take the car to a registered VW workshop. My TDI's first service at 7,500km cost $138 and $66 of this was for the oil alone. The guy who did it (John Hall in Devonport) had to buy the oil from the dealer in Launceston and have it couriered up.
Thanks guys. I will probably be taking mine to Geoff King in Coffs Harbour. I live in Grafton so it's a fair way (85kms) for a service, but I'm pretty sure there's no VW approved workshops in town????? I'll look into it.
Another Jetta owner in town told me she was charged $500 for her 7500k service!!!
The 7500km service on my 1.9 TDI Golf (If I chose to have it) would have been around $150. All they do is change the oil and check everything is ok. It's basically the complimentary "checkup service" some places offer when you buy a car (my Ford had one at 3000km and my Renault at 1000km) but VW do it at 7500km and they charge you for it.
The 7500km service is "reccomended" but it will not matter if you don't have it done. Most dealers I have spoken to have said that it is a waste of money.
I chose not to do it as it has been in a few times for warranty work and everything they did/checked would have been covered in the 7500km service and I top up the oil myself.
I have been quoted $220 for the 15,000km and I believe the cost of the 30,000km service was about $400ish but they can varey a fair bit from dealer to dealer.
Hi guys
Got the dealer to get me some prices. This is what he came back with...does this sound ok???
15000k's is $280 inc parts and labour
30000k's is $440 inc parts and labour
45000k's is $280 inc parts and labour
60000k's is $980 inc parts and labour
Heck, what's involved in a 60000k service? Engine replacement?
I have been a Camry driver (I can hear the groans now!) for years, and the most expensive service I've ever had was $390, and that was the works deal!
I guess it's because of the rediculously high mark up for the imported parts. I have to replace the coil pack for my VR6 couple weeks ago and got a shock when I was told the part itself cost $880 ex GST! It must made out of gold. Can imagine if you need to replace the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, brake pads... at 60000K, it easily blows out to $1000 bucks. It's the price to paid for the German engineering?!

I got different ones from a dealer in WA for servicing 2.0TDI Golf and it is as follows.
15000k's $303.00
30000k's $429.00
45000k's $303.00
60000k's $598.00 ( major service)
Does anyone else have similar figures for TDI Golf?
Isn't a Jettas major service a little bit too much or there is a lot of work to be done like replacing timing belt

Doesn't the 60,000km service include a major DSG service as well. I think they have to replace 9L of DSG oil as well as all the other stuff.
Just got some quotes from Lismore VW dealership and this is what they quoted...
"hi Tim
the approx price of servicing the jetta tdi is at 12 month/15000 km is $180.00, the 2 yr/30000km service is approx $450 , 3year /45000 km service is approx $180.00 and the 4 yr/60000 km service is approx $550.00"
Half the price of the 60000km service in Coffs! MUCH BETTER!!
I was just wondering does anyone know what is included with each service intervals for TDI?
basically manual states that brake fluid should be changed every two years but is it included in the price of servicing or it cost extra, what about in cabin filters?
most people would like to know?
