Yeah, ask for Vasi, he is a bit "oily" as in slick, but will provide good service. The others there are far less helpful ......

That would be too perfect - so don't expect it anytime soon

But at least now we have some good alternatives to the main dealer in Brisbane, we have Norris Group, Northstar, Ipswich, Highway and if you want really good service (and don't mind the 70km drive); Southport.

I think it is strange that nobody would come and speak to you, if you are on our yard, whether one of our VW guys are free or not, someone will come and speak to you just to say hi, even if it needs to be someone from Chrysler Jeep or Dodge as well, just to make sure you are welcomed.

Generally I ask first if there is something I can help out with immediately, or if you are happy to browse for a few minutes, but I do know some guys who have the attitude that unless you walk into the showroom you are not serious. Even I get intimidated sometimes walking into a showroom with 5 or 6 people looking at me walk in, so I can imagine how a normal person off the street would feel doing the same thing.

In regards to appointments, I like to work that way, but I definitely do not ignore people on the yard/showroom floor, unless I do have someone appointed for 5 minutes later.

It really is quite funny how things vary dealer to dealer, and even salesperson to salesperson.
          Cheers,
          Mark.

From my experience when buying my Jetta, I got more chances of getting a VW test drive if I made a booking (website/email) rather than casual walk-in which resulted in "who the hell are you"-look most of the time

I would always be willing to pay more or go further out of my way to get good service. Actually I bought my R32 from northstar (2nd hand) and I'd have to agree the staff there are pretty friendly bunch. Even though I was dealing with the used car people, the new car guys in the show room was more than friendly enough when I was browsing the new cars while i waited for the paperwork.

He may well be but how long will he be there and it doesn't change that Austral is rotten from the top down. Pointless having a decent salesman if the sales manager is rubbish or the salesman leaves after you sign the deal.

I don't see any point in giving an organisation like Austral which has a long history of screwing customers, misleading them, telling porkies, treating customers like rubbish and so forth any business at all. They've had numerous changes of DP's, sales managers, sales staff, service management, finance guys (three in the short time I was getting screwed by them) and it shows in their operation.

Not to mention their visit a while ago by senior execs from Volkswagen that led to the departure of three management positions for their involvement/knowledge of something that was going on. It's a shame the senior execs didn't shut them down but I guess sales are more important.

There has been an awful lot of bad press for Austral but they are said to be turning things around.

Austral are having an open-night for VWWC and are actively trying to find ways to increase their customer satisfaction record.

I have only heard good things about Northstar and Sunshine Coast

But they've said that before and people gave them a chance (including me) and I was royally screwed for over $5000 because of their conduct.

Last time they tried to increase their customer satisfaction record it almost cost them the dealership and led to the departure of staff

The Ipswich dealer is good as well and Highway have always done the right thing by me even after they could have royally screwed me after my experience with Austral. I can't speak highly enough of the way the salesman and sales manager treated me at Highway.

Hopefully Austral will make a real change after seeing the increased competition and customer service from outer-Brisbane delaers.
If all else fails and they go back to original tactics then i don't see that dealership lasting so they better make good on their promises (could happen due to mass staff changes)

I am almost certainly going through a broker for my new VW, just to cut out all the issues that may occur.

Apparently Highway starting up made a bit of a difference to Austral but now with the other two on the Northside and I think 7 dealers now all within 70 minutes of the Brisbane CBD they will be be under some pressure instead of being the only dealer in the village.

For me and I'm sure many others it doesn't matter what Austral do now because I'll never go there and I'll go out of my way to warn people about dealing with them.

They've had staff changes before and nothing has changed so either they've hired the wrong staff each time or the problems are further up the chain or just ingrained into the company. Hopefully this time they may have gotten it right but I've heard a few stories of recent activities that point to them staying the same (can't go into specifics).

Vasi has been there for years.... and by the looks isn't going anywhere. I know people have there own opinion but I can't recommend him enough...

That's been my experience with Burwin, and one of the things that puts them on the top of the list for this next vehicle.

                            Nevertheless...all I wanted was:
                            a. To see a Tiguan with leather interior
                            b. To see a red Tiguan, if they had one in stock
                            c. To find out the availability of the sport body kit
                            d. To find out if it were possible to lock in a tyre (or at least a tyre type...I don't want any form of AT).

I did not want any sort of test drive. Firstly they're in suburbia, so it proves nothing, and I've driven them anyway.

I intended giving them my details, and the proposed order, so that they could organise a proper quotation.

All I achieved was having a look at the leather, but I didn't need any assistance for that.

At the end, I see no reason whatsoever to go back to them, and if they are suggested by the leasing company, then I'll pay extra to go elsewhere.

same thing happened to me at barloworld glen waverley even though I had an appointment, this was despite a number of salespeople being clearly on thier lunchbreak and another being clearly to busy reading a magazine to attend to a customer. in the end the receptionist gave me the keys and I went for a 40 min drive by myself... Will never go back again..

                                Vw :New Car Purchase

Have to say my New car purchase with VW dealings was very poor. Despite appointments in advance with 2 Melb dealers, the cars were unavailable, despite being in the provinces and 1.5 hours away.Very frustrating and dissapointing.Nearly put me off- except the cars are so good. Only had one service so far, but luckily very impressive client service, although needless to say pricey!
