Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

You're all WAY off the mark. I wish they'd shoehorn the Audi 3.0 TDI into the AWD R32, best of everything!

          x2.

It's great you guys are voicing your opinions because everyone's entitled to them, but could we please add "IMO" to the phrase so you're not talking on behalf of the world.

Also, more and less within 24 hours or thread closes.

Haha! gota love a heated debate I knew the "my car is faster than yours" topic would arise.

Anyways guys, I'm off to enjoy driving my piece of German engineering which I worked hard for. There's always someone out there faster than you and lets all be honest, if speed was the only thing any of us were after, none of us would have bought a GTI or an R32 - we all had and still have our reasons for purchasing these machines. The hard facts of each one's performance are freely available, but so are opinions. Just buy it and enjoy it I say.

but could we please add "IMO" to the phrase so you're not talking on behalf of the world.
            Second that.

Those don't look anything alike .

I don't see what the problem is, VW is fairly conservative with their styling. The R36 doesn't look much different to the normal Passat, but anyone in the know can tel em apart:

I'd let Preeny have his way with me for AWD.

I'm not a fan of FWD 'sports' cars so I guess one of the main reasons I bought an R32 instead of a Gti was the AWD. A modded Gti may be quicker than an R32, but there's not a hell of a lot you can do to it, to compete with it's handling and traction. And it does mystify me why people buy a gti then try and squeeze as many kw out of the engine as possible. It's FWD! Go and buy a WRX or leave your poor car alone!

The discussion was centered around would someone who was uninformed (ie most of the population who couldn't give a toss about cars) know the difference between a group of golfs.

Who cares about them in that case .

There are other fwd sports cars I'd buy like the Megane F1/R26R etc that would be better performance and sports cars but not as good overall for daily driving IMO.

Torque steer + understeer doesn't equal fun. But if that's what floats your boat..
