GTI vs R32

Hi Guys,

How does a stock Mark V GTI stack up against an stockR32, and secondly how would a stage 1 (flashed ECU) Mark V GTI go against a stock R32?

I think stock R32 is quicker, but Stage I GTI will be quicker than R32 stock.

Go the GTI if you want tuning potential. If you want a horn exhaust note and AWD get the R32

I'm with Golfman on this one and he is spot on ! Personally im not a fan of the Mk5 R32 and i feel that the MK5 gti front end has a much more aggressive stance!

But it all comes down to what you are expecting and wanting in a car...

Stock for stock yes the 32 would be quicker.. but who drives stock cars these days

32 will get you off the line and you prob wont make it back until top of 2nd and then pull away in 3rd.. In a manual GTI (stage 1) anyway..

Rolling start 60k 2nd gear not much in it all stock for stock..

Stage 2 GTI hands out an ass woopin to any 32 short of having internals or FI.. Long as you're getting traction..

Doesnt the saying go there is no replacement for displacement.

The AWD would pwnt all over the FWD aswell and dont even get started on that exhaust note. Not to mention the balla factor for being able to afford the 20k extra. The premo recaro seats etc etc. Some times it isnt just about speed coz itll get smoked by any commonwhore with a 6L.

A hell of a lot more than modify them.

I did my share of modding in the past, but prefer now to just buy the car that fits my needs and if i want to go fast i have a bike in the garage for that.

Save the $$ for the next car (or bike) upgrade.

Its called a turbo. And ppl should give the GTI more credit for its exhaust note very clean for a 4 cylinder, 32's can sound a bit farty sometimes..

yeah boys in blue didnt agree tho me thinks.. I laughed when I saw you bragging about beating me tho Greg.. I think you had jtw's hopes up he could keep up with gti's before he got the 32 and then he got it only to get wooped by shinys giac'd gti..

Something surprising I found out tho.. Shiny's exhaust custom 3 " DP to stock cat back is louder than my resonated turbo back Milltek

14.0 is ok but for your mods was expecting a bit more, that MPS was fast in the video.

Stock for stock an R32 is faster, and more cool in general .

Well mine would be quicker off the mark as well if that's your thing. You may win the 100-140 or something on the freeway but that's kewel .
