Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Brisben didn't say "VW have only been doing this for 20 years" or "VW started doing this 20 years ago", so his statement is factually correct, and doesn't contradict the second half of your statement.

VW had this feature on the mid 60s type 3's with little marker lights on the sides of the front guards in front of the door. The beetle never had the parklight feature, at least never in Australia and it was with the German built GLS Golfs in 77 and Passats that we got it, thats 32 years ago...

Why, just the other day I was adjusting the passengers seat, whilst driving through a stop sign in front of a school going 150km/h with a big mac in one hand and the drivers manual in the other....
Lay off me, I was just trying to find the page that has the information on how to set the cruise control - otherwise I wouldn't have been going 150 in the first place....
I hope you're picking up on my sarcasm, coz I'm laying it on pretty thick here.....Last edited by kryten2001; 20-10-2009, 10:20 PM.

I've changed the thread title to something a little more suiting. It's good to have an area where we can discuss discovered secrets that VW secretly wanted you to know by reading the manual but meh, it's funner to discover them by accident.
Enjoy ladies
Ps. Before I get grilled by you pedantic spelling hawks, I'd like to point out that I know "funner" isn't a real word.
Oh and please please please keep the bickering for the Beauty Parlour...Last edited by maca; 20-10-2009, 11:11 PM.2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 - 2007 Mazda 3 GT - 1998 Ford Contour Sport - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T - 2013 Volkswagen Passat 130TDI - 2015 Ford Escape 1.5 - 2016 Subaru WRX - 2018 Volkswagen Golf R Wolfsburg Wagon

Maybe I'll suggest it to the VW engineers to include on the Mk7?

This is not actually hidden trick post,
But its taken me almost two years to realise that
the inside front door grab handles on my Jetta are both different.
Am I the only one not to notice this for so long?
Are the golf handles different to each other as well?

It's been covered before but the little loop of fabric on the passenger side seatbelt?
It's the only seatbelt that, when not in use, the plastic stopper would knock on the B pillar and annoy us.2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 - 2007 Mazda 3 GT - 1998 Ford Contour Sport - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0T - 2013 Volkswagen Passat 130TDI - 2015 Ford Escape 1.5 - 2016 Subaru WRX - 2018 Volkswagen Golf R Wolfsburg Wagon
