Sweet a$$ 1198 S Kryten. Is it true the "S" has the race exhaust that legally can't be delivered "on the bike" but Ducati put it in the crate and you fit it yourself or at your first service?

      Sexy sexy bit of gear!
Nah mate you're thinking of the 1098R. Same displacement (1198cc) but the 1098R has the aftermarket Termi exhaust (which you can also buy for the 1198S).

The 1098 has a lot of work on the engine too.. Titanium conrods etc etc..

But the 1098R also costs a _fair_ bit more.. $60,000.... Whereas the lowly 1198S costs _only_ $36,000.

That extra $24,000 buys you 10 horsepower (which you can get for $3k on the 1198S), but it revs a lot quicker due to the lighter engine internals.

THe most desirable until you actually own one! I don't know about the 1198 but I used to own a 1098 and thought that it was my dream bike too- then the reality set in that I just spent $30,000 on a piece of unreliable crap.

Dukes like most things expensive and italian are just collectors items that you keep clean and look at and never use. Quite a contrast to anything German actually.

I had so many issues with mine that I decided to sell it and I swear I'll never buy a Duke again.

dont worry about critisism from your dyno reults, what was your 'estimate' dyno on that day.(considering this may or may not be the real power figure of the car?
