  • The Jetta is in my garage!!

After spending all day driving, the Jetta is in my garage!
I drove it from Tweed to Grafton via the Pacific Hwy, and it's perfect!! No rattles, dsg performed flawlessly, and avg'd 5.1L/100km. I. LOVED. IT!!
Put the foot down going up the hill from Byron Bay and it flew!!!!

Photo shoot coming up on the weekend.

    OHHHHHH YEAH!

I thought you would still be sitting in the car in the garage not in the house on the PC.

Well, it just so happens that's exactly what I've been doing for the last four hours!

Read the manual front to back and installed the booster seats and harnesses for the kids.

Must get a rear seat cover tomorrow to protect the seat from grotty kids shoes.
I had tinting done, but the rear windows was done a bit dodgy. I'll be on the blower first thing tomorrow to the dealer.

Hah, driving it around town this evening, a lot of people were staring at the car. There's only another two or three Jetta's in town (the wife LOVES the exclusivity), so you can see their expression "wow, what car is that?" hehehe

My tyres are the original Conti SportContact2 which are very good except for the road noise. Will look at something different when changing my tyres next.

I still have QLD plates on it until I go to the RTA tomorrow to get it registered for NSW. I noticed the plate screws go thru the middle of the plates!

See the plate holder at the back? I'm not sure how my 'standard' slimline white background/black text plates are going to fit on there without drilling thru them like the QLD plates...anyone got the slimline plates on without drilling thru them?

I can't see the picture - but keeeeep the QLD plates on

But if you must change them, go to a BMW dealer and ask for a backing for your slimline plate. That's what I did in anticipation for my slimline plates and they offered me some cases to go along with it. If you can get a backing at least, that will avoid you drilling new holes into the plates and you'll get to use the 4 existing corner holes.

Come to think of it, Austral VW has started using the backings so perhaps your local VW dealer may have started as well..

If BMW or your local VW dealer don't offer any assistance, hold off putting your plates on for as long as possible (display them in your rear window if you have to).

Then, go to Bunnings or a local hardware store, get something that you could use as a plate mount and use that as a backing. It won't be too hard to measure out and drill the holes in (and even if you mess up, who cares! No one will see it..). Then make sure you get the 4 corners right and you'll be all set
