Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've been doing a bit of reading regarding the flapper mod - is it just as simple as pulling the vacuum hose out and sticking a ball bearing within the hose and refit it?

So, does it imply that engine vacuum to the valve diverts it to a "quieter" chamber, and without vacuum, the exhaust routes through a more "straight through" channel and thus sounds barkier?

I didn't bother refitting mine. Just plugged it and tucked it away.

The note you get above 3000(?)rpm starts from idle instead. I believe the vaccum home actuates a butterfly valve that opens on the 2nd exhaust tip which is the barky exhaust tip.

What I do know is that it makes one hell of a difference.

My understanding is that it spits out a whole lot of errors on the ECU(?).

WE have given them a cheque last saturday and purchase the car.. We've been progressively checking our bank statement and clearance. and our bank have cleared the payment on Monday afternoon. However, today i called them numerous time and they said they do not believe on our bank, and that we would not receive the car until 10 working days at THE SERVICE CENTER...
Well did you even use a bank cheque?

                            The car is great

still getting use to it though, even though it looks similar to any regular mkv but it drives completely different.
It actually feels a lil more comfortable then the gti.. O_O" or maybe its just me...

                            Pics soon.

I think you and i were the lukcy last buyers of the R32. There are none left in Australia. There were 4 left 2 weeks ago, 2 were silver, 1 black, and not sure about the other. Looks like we both got the last 2 silver ones.

                              Congrats. The sound is brilliant.

Good luck with it. We've had ours for almost two years now, and it still puts a grin on my face any time I take it for a drive.
