take it from someone with personal experience (long long ago)
it's a $67 fine (in NSW) to use fog lights when the conditions do not warrant it.

high beams and driving lights may be used at any time, and in any conditions, as long as
there is no oncoming vehicle within 200 meters, NSW regulations state that lights must be dipped
when closer than 200 meters or when the other vehicle dips their lights.(which ever happens first)

fog lights can only legally be used in poor visibility situations. I learned my lesson the hard way.

    Jason.

Which IMO is far from enough. Plus in this case it appears to be reflector housing with HID so the penalty will most likely be higher as they will be dazzling oncoming traffic.

Mod looks good. I fitted daytime running lights to mine instead of foglights as I wanted to use functional lower lights legally. They only use 15w bulbs so they are not bright enough to dazzle other drivers, which seems to be the reason why most people frown on drivers using fogs during the day. The DRL's cancel as soon as parking lights or headlights are turned on.

I've never been pulled up by the police or flashed by another driver so they must be ok.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm just not sure....

just one question; do you have the projector lens fogs or the reflector lens fogs?
Mmmh! the reflector, they are the normal lens units that came with the Pacific model,

Complete and utter waste of time and money and all you're going to do is annoy other motorists and not even improve your own vision at night because those low mounted lights are a) useless for extending or improving low beam because they're just too low and b) dont even have a beam pattern which is useful for extending low beam vision.
Hi man, no taken! all cool

I did for a few reasons, I like it, yes I'm planing to upgrade the headlights too installing the proper headlights units like the R32,

I know and I agree on the point that it's useless just install the HID's on the "regular" headlight unit, like the Ecos, Hondas, Subarus, yes!! that's stupid flashing everyone even at your side,

I'm doing it properly my fogs don't flash anyone in the oncoming traffic like i said, another point is we have more heavy rain than fog, I drive a lot on the M4, M2, M5, M7 all the time at 11pm or so, plus dark streets, so, I'm not using my fogs as a day running lights, they are off when it's sunny

            Cheers!

Driving lights are legal to use under many more conditions, generally not in built up areas and with oncoming traffic.
The other day a police car stoped me for the RBT, and I asked when can I use them, he told me, basically when you don't see anything like heavy rain, fog, dark places,

But come on!!! who never had in your rear an idiot with the high beams on?, or those big yellow lights on the old Subarus? ugly!!, or those idiots on Skylines?

I do it for my security, and not for harm anyone

              Cool for me!

Well that's just brilliant, you said that you would upgrade the headlight housing on the car to the R32 ones before you fit xenons but then you use the reflector fog light housing and install a xenon kit into that?

You can see from the photos the amount of glare and scatter during the day so I can only imagine what they would be like at night. Be considerate of other drivers and at the very least fit the projector housings for the fogs, they cost less then $100 on ebay

I really doubt that he said dark places and asking a cop at a RBT is pointless and won't help you out when you're getting a ticket. Take a look at your state law because it will be spelt out in detail when you can use foglights.

But come on!!! who never had in your rear an idiot with the high beams on?, or those big yellow lights on the old Subarus? ugly!!, or those idiots on Skylines?
How does this justify blinding over road users, just because someone else may be inconsiderate doesn't mean you have to be.

Please explain how you think that this is for your own security and not to harm anyone when you're blinding oncoming traffic? You don't think that a car hitting you head on is possibly the opposite of what you want to achieve?

                  Cool for me!
Obviously you think so, the law says quite differently.

In the past I could dip my mirrors to save me from the glare or now press the magic button which will blacken the rear view mirror. Problem solved.

I don't, however, understand the mentality of blinding drivers travelling towards you. For some reason I'm very susceptible to mis-aligned fogs (particularly those on VX commodores) where I'm dazzled to the point that all I can see is white light infront of me. Dazzle on a single lane road at a bend at 100kph - i.e Heathcote Rd, and there could be a problem... and one of the reasons I rarely use Heathcote Rd after dusk.

Must be old cars or DIY-wired then, cos under ADRs foggies can only come on when other lights are switched on.

i know in the falcons, the fogs have an independant switch (dad has a BA xr6).

Bizarre. I thought they were supposed to have an independent switch, but also supposed to be wired through the main lighting circuit, so even if the fog light switch is on, they won't actually come on until the main lighting circuit is activated.

I've noticed the front fog lights on both my old Bora and our Touareg are no where near blinding. Maybe a hard jolt or the stupid design team of our local cars may cause the alignment to screw up but you can't say that the stock fog lights on any Euro car are blinding...

I've noticed that around Brisbane too. Mainly in the CBD though where there's plenty of light. There's no way a Fog light can provide as much distance as a main beam...
