  • No acceleration while braking!

Noticed tonight that if (while driving) you press the brake which accelerating, the power stops! You can have the pedal to the floor and nothing happens.

Pretty good feature if you ask me. Just an interesting find.

That'd mean pressing the brake with the wrong foot though..

... But I thought you can still accelerate when you do the 'launch control' thingee with the DSG, and you need to have your foot on the brakes to do that don't you?

Not a heel toe but you can still drive with two feet. I can in our Golf DSG, timing that delay is important. Very rarely happens that I have no power in gear, but when it happens it's not something I like, especially when accelerating at higher speed from the corner. The car feels like a glider at that moment.

Hmm maybe it's just a diesel thing? I can still gas it when I'm stopped and feel the car pulling away but this only happens at speed.. I tried it at 70km/h.

It actually will let you blip the throttle while on the brakes, but it won't let you transfer the weight to the front of the car while accelerating, by doing a little bit of left foot braking.

                It isn't a feature, it's a design flaw!

Yeah I've seen this same behaviour in my '01 Bora (4Motion 6sp) - tap the brake (with left foot) and you get no throttle for 1-2 seconds

It is mildly annoying, I put it down to the traction control 'knowing best'

Does it happen with ESP switched off??

It's not a design flaw VAG created them like this on purpose. I can't remember the exact reason though.

It's a feature, I have some info somewhere on how it works exactly but part of it is to save fuel. There are different modes where it operates differently, it will allow you to get the revs up to a certain point under some modes and none under others. I'll post it up when I find it.

I'm guessing it'd let you rev up when towing and what not.. I defs knew it wasn't a flaw, just thought it was interesting though..

                              =P it doesnt stop burnouts

Also, this doesnt happen in the auto, i can use both at once, probably a DSG thing
